How to Separate Stems in ShiMuv

Split any song into vocals, drums, bass and instruments using ShiMuv's built-in AI stem separator.

March 5, 2026

ShiMuv's stem separator uses AI to break a mixed audio file into individual components — vocals, drums, bass and instruments. You can use this for remixing, sampling, karaoke or studying professional mixes.

Step 1: Open a Recording in the DAW

Go to Song > New and create a session. Import the track you want to separate by clicking the Import button in the toolbar and selecting a file from your library or uploading from your computer.

Step 2: Open the Stems Panel

In the bottom panel bar, click the Stems button (highlighted in yellow). This opens the stem separation interface.

Step 3: Choose Separation Mode

Select your mode:

  • 2-Stem — Vocals + Instrumental (12 credits)
  • 4-Stem — Vocals, Drums, Bass, Other Instruments (18 credits)

Click Separate to start processing.

Step 4: Wait for Processing

The AI processes your track in the cloud. Most songs under 5 minutes complete in 30–90 seconds. You'll see a progress indicator while it works.

Step 5: Load Stems onto Tracks

Once complete, each stem appears as a separate audio file. Click Load to Tracks to automatically create a new track for each stem in your session. Now you can solo, mute, add effects or re-mix each component independently.

You can also use the public Stem Splitter tool without opening the DAW.

AI Tools Connected to a Full Studio

The AI features you learned about in this tutorial are integrated into every part of ShiMuv. Generate an instrumental, import it into the DAW, record vocals over it, split reference tracks into stems, create a lipsync video with the vocal, edit everything together in the video editor, and publish. AI is not a standalone feature — it powers the entire creative workflow.

ShiMuv is not a tutorial site or a collection of tools. It is a complete music creation platform where independent artists write, produce, record, mix, master, create videos for, and publish their music — all from a single browser tab. Here is what is available to you:
