How to Separate Stems in ShiMuv

There are two ways to split stems. Choose whichever fits your workflow.

Path ALibrary → Track Editor (Recommended)

1

Go to your Library and click Edit on any track

Open your Library where all your AI-generated music, uploaded songs, and recordings live. Find the track you want to split and click the Edit button. This opens the Track Editor.

Wait for processing, then download or preview your stems

AI processing typically takes 30–90 seconds. When complete, each stem appears with its own play and download button. Preview any stem individually, download them as audio files, or continue to the DAW to remix.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where do I separate stems?
You can separate stems in two places: (1) In the Library, click Edit on any track to open the Track Editor, then scroll to Stem Separation. (2) In the DAW, click the Stems button in the top toolbar. The Library/Track Editor method is recommended — it works with all track types.
What is the difference between 4-stem and 6-stem?
4-stem separates into vocals, drums, bass, and other instruments. 6-stem adds guitar and piano as individual stems. Both use AI-powered Demucs separation running on cloud GPUs.
Can I download the stems?
Yes. After separation, each stem has a download button in the Track Editor. You can also import stems into the DAW via Import → Stems tab and export from there.
What types of tracks can I split?
Any track in your Library — AI-generated music from the Music Creator, uploaded songs, DAW recordings, and covers. If it has audio, you can split it.
What formats are supported?
MP3, WAV, and FLAC files up to 20 minutes. WAV and FLAC produce better results since they are lossless.
How long does processing take?
30–90 seconds for most songs under 5 minutes. Processing runs on cloud GPUs — your computer's speed does not matter.
Do I need to install anything?
No. ShiMuv's Track Editor, DAW, and stem splitter run entirely in your browser — Chrome, Edge, Firefox, or Safari. No downloads or plugins.
Can I use my separated stems in the DAW?
Yes. After separating stems in the Track Editor, open the DAW, click Import → Stems tab. Your separated stems appear automatically. Click '+ Add All Stems' or add individual stems to tracks.
